Wm Fife design, one of 10 built. Carrickfergus 1896/7. Superb, elegant, classic Fife design with long counter stern. Carvel planked in pitch-pine on an oak back-bone. Major rebuild project, halted due to death of owner.
Largely re-planked port side in larch, part replanked stbd side, hull recaulked & payed & now in primer. Counter had been out off, now rebuiIt to original design with new planking in larch, properly run in to existing. 2 1/4" x 2" steamed oak timbers @ 12"c, many new, all copper fastened. All new galv strap floors. Double stringers. New teak over ply deck with solid teak coverboards on new laminated varnished deck beams with new lodging knees & s/s tie rods. New sealed cockpits drains to bilge via twin drains. Stbd cock-pit seat sealed for .1/4-berth under, port seat contains gas bottle locker & s/s fuel tank. New varnished afromosia c'pit & cabin coamings with original bronze ports. Small bridge deck to washboards & sliding hatch to the cabin. New sky-light on the coach-roof, new fore hatch on the fore deck.
Gaff cutter rig on keel stepped Noble built mast approx 6 years old c/w s/s rigginq & suit of sails. Slab reefing bc,om. Pair of Barlow ST sheet winches. highfield levers.
Volvo MD2 2-cyl 18hp diesel to c'line 2-blade prop
Interior as yet not fitted out but cock-pit bulkhead & new fwd bulkhead in place. Larch sole boards made. 5'10" head-room under the sky-light. Interior space allows for 1/4-berth, 2 saloon berths & fore peak'heads & stowage/berths. A yard restoration of a fine period yacht with some good work in progress. The project can be finished in the yard on quoted prices or removed by road.
