M.V. Abundance Built 1948 by Husbands Shipyard, Southampton to Naval Specifications Construction Oak on Oak
Main engine - 400hp @ 9OOrpm Lister Blackstone ESS4 MGR2, fitted in 1960. Auxiliary engine - Lister HA2. Driving: a/ Compressor- b/ Fresh water cargo pump; c/ Hydraulic pump; d/ General service pump; e/ 24 voit dynamo.
Donkey engine - on the fore deck for the Derek winch gear. Lister Hydraulic gearbox 2.1 Reduction 1960. Hydraulic steering gear, main engine powered with hand back up.

accomodation Cooker, sink, pressurised water system, 2 berths. Toilet compartment with hand basin and Simpson Laurence sea toilet.
This vessel was used by her builder until 1983, and was in daily use towing lighters and 500 ton pontoons together with the delivery of ships stores and cargoes to the Isle of Wight. The main engine was fitted by Husbands in 1960, and was one of the first of the Lister ESS range. Peter Smith employed M. V.Abundance on a similar basis to that of her previous owner until 1993 when T. Nielsen & Company Ltd. purchased her. She was last docked in 1994 for routine caulking and anti-fouling. At the same time the outer shaft seal ( a deep sea rubber seal) was replaced. The general condition of the vessel below the waterline is very good. Work is under way to replace the steel bulwa.rk and timber stanchions with hot dip galvanised stanchions and timber bulwark
planking.
