John Illingworth design, built for him by his friends L’Abbe at St malo in 1969 for JOG series. Full keel, cut-away fore foot, raked transom stern with transom hung rudder. Carvel planked splined mahogany above wl, teak below, all copper fastened to 3/4" x 3/4" steamed oak timbers @ 15"c. Iron ballast keel with s/s bolts. Oak floors. New 1993 epoxy-sheathed ply deck with cambered shallow coach-roof and dog-house.
Masthead sloop rig on deck stepped alloy mast, allot roller reefing boom. 1993 s/s rigging with Eurospars twin track roller headsail syste, inner baby stay, split standing back-stay. 2 alloy spi poles. Pair of Lewmar mast winches, pair of bottom action bronze cock-pit winches. Mainsail, spinnaker and 1993 genoa on roller.
Yanmar 1GM 10hp single cyl 1988 diesel engine, single lever controls to centre line 3-blade prop gives 4 knts. Full instruments. 12v battery 10 gall Vetus tank under cock-pit.
4 berths. Fore peak storage with Brydon sea toilet on centre line, hatch over. Bulkhead to large saloon cabin with port and stbd settee berths, mast support pillar between. Midships chart table to stbd, galley to port with spirit cooker and sink, hand pump from 2 x 3-gall water tanks under cabin sole. Port and stbd 1/4 berths extend well out into the cabin. Steps up to sliding hatch and wash boards to spacious, varnished, self draining cock-pit with long seat lockers each side. 5’3" head-room under dog-house less fwd but spacious sitting head-room due to good beam. Varnished ply and mahogany joinery all as built with varnished deck beams.
This fine little yacht is in excellent structural order and cosmetically tidy. Very good topsides, fair bottom and much refitted in present long, knowledgeable ownership incl new deck. Still a fast little yacht with surprising capability and remarkable space below in her typically Illingworth unusual lay-out. Great fun for sensible yachting money.
